Macalester Real Estate
As a parent, you want to provide your college student with the best education possible. However, shouldn’t there be something in it for you as well? Your child will need housing, regardless if it’s the dorms or an off-campus rental. Wouldn’t it make sense to provide that housing for your child, and in the process claim a hefty tax deduction?
Real estate in the Macalester-Groveland, Merriam Park, and Highland Park neighborhoods has been on a consistent rise (regardless of what major media says). Because of the area’s accessibility to several colleges, domestic ammenities (i.e. gyms, grocery stores, entertainment), major highways, and the river trails, these neighborhoods will always be desirable and appreciating in value.
Whether it’s a side-by-side duplex, four-plex, or single family home, your money will be insulated in this market. Even if you’re not getting 5% per year back, those tax deductions will add up quickly to make more than a dent in your annual returns.
In retrospect, I wish I’d been more financially savvy when I was 18, rather than waiting until 24 to buy my first home. Those six years would’ve made a huge difference in not only my net worth, but my confidence in taking calculated risks in order to achieve great returns.
If you’d like to learn more about these neighborhoods, or would like to discuss the real estate opportunities available, just call. I’d be more than happy to help a fellow Macalester College family.
